How are you? A little bit closer to joy, I hope. If not, perhaps today’s Holy Nougat will take you there.
Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good. Psalms 90:15 NLT
I know of some persons whose lives have been ONE big perennial season of pain and suffering. And then there are others who’ve been enduring and attempting to persevere for a while. In either instance, the temptation to cast judgement on the reason behind the person’s suffering is often great. What must you have done; eaten; said, etc to be reduced to ‘this’ state? And then there’s Job or the man born blind – it’s not always our fault.
Regardless of the source of our misery, we receive ‘permission’ – as it were – to seek God’s face for a shift in our outlook. Gladness you see, doesn’t truly impact our circumstances, but it certainly shifts our focus. For rather than making the source of our misery the subject of our lives; we opt to focus on The One Who is able to KEEP us and prevent us from falling!
Now that’s enough to bring joy to a heart. Moreover, as we focus we will find that God is working God’s purpose out, despite us (think of the man infirm for 38 years til he forgot he needed healing). So today let’s agree to believe God can and will restore all the years stolen by the enemy of our souls – that God will restore them in joy! For we know our God never owes anyone a debt. May our journey into joy begin this instant!
