Have you ever experienced Divine favor, especially when it was unmerited? How did you feel upon recognising that based on your actions God’s response was extremely generous? How was your response to God for such favor?
Ironically, our experience of God’s favor provides surety that our current distress are temporary. For, when we consider what God has forgiven, and the ways in which God has rescued us from ourselves in the past … we KNOW that God’s Word Is sure. Perhaps our more pressing challenge is in discerning God’s plan for our breakthrough. Sometimes knowing is worth the while. But then there are other moments, when knowing the breakthrough in advance may result in our taking the Jonah route. Let’s remember tho, that even then, God’s joy was experienced by the Ninevites. Yesiree! (And Jonah was simply being Jonah.)
What has caused you to experience your longest night – heartbreak, sickness, loss of employment, betrayal, death, depression, (other)? I guarantee that God cared, cares and will care. Even when our longest night goes beyond a few days – perhaps even years – when we trust in God, God’s joy COMES.
So be comforted, remember and celebrate, comfort someone with the assurance that favor guarantees breakthrough. God’s got us. It is well.
