What’s your take on Scripture? Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“God uses it [Scripture] to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:17 NLT
Before we critique it ( let’s ensure our familiarity with it. And even when we disagree with it; we acknowledge that Scripture is God inspired and often reveals the heart of God. If that’s the case with us, then it is definitely in our interest to get familiar with scripture.
For me, it’s a guideline to ordinary behavior – do to others … we might argue about many aspects of scripture,but this guideline is universal.
It also helps me understand how previous saints lived. Their strengths and weaknesses and their redemptive moments- like David and Peter and Ruth and Tamar. For in their redemption I find my own.
Sometimes Scripture is admonishment for my behavior; don’t judge; considering that God clothes the trees; why am I doubting God? It also teaches me how t ought to interact with others – welcome the stranger, be especially kind to widows and orphans; the outcast; the one with disabilities … and the list goes on.
And most of all, it offers a word of encouragement to press for eternal life with Jesus.
There are other things, but time does not permit me that luxury today. In any case, we each have to determine whether the Word guides us.
