Greetings from Guyana everyone

This weekend, the Hindu community had their Diwali celebrations. This is their festival of lights, where they remind themselves, among other things, that good triumphs over evil. Ironically, the diyas are often tiny clay pots with a flame in one corner. When these are lit (often forming different patterns), they could rival many a Christmas tree.

Hmmm, isn’t that like what we’re supposed to be …

Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™

We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves. 2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT

And that’s part of the difference between us isn’t it? The Diwali lights are literally clay jars, burning brightly without. Our Light, Jesus Christ, LIVES within us and shines through.

And, when we choose to have the Light of Christ living in our hearts, we’ll find that we are less prone to negative behavior. We also have the opportunity to be drawn closer to God because Jesus Christ has that effect on people most times.

What a wonderful gift! That God would entrust our hearts with the marvelous Light of Jesus! That’s precious treasure indeed!

So, what shall we do with our lit lamps? Will we shine like the noonday Sun, or will we try to hide the Light?

It’s upon each of us to reflect and decide.
