A gem…
When a task is once begun
Never leave it till it’s done
Be it either great or small
Do it well or not at all.
Anyone remember those days? We began reciting with the phrase, “a gem”. And then in the most nauseating singsong voice the entire 30 classroom of students would begin. It was years before the real value of the gem registered.
Today’s Holy Nougat™ reminds me of this. . .
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:20 NLT
Can you imagine what would happen if God chose NOT to finish anything that was started in our lives? Not just what we hoped or asked for, but anything at all … The things we take for granted when we murmur in our hearts that ‘the Lord doesn’t look out for people like me’
And before you rise to refute the point, consider your reaction last time the prayer wasn’t answered the way we’d prefer. More power to you.
Now if we seek to emulate Christ, or word becomes our bond. Thus, in God’s power through the Holy Spirit, do we honour that which we promise to do? Or are we known for shortchanging our work? Is there pride in workmanship to accomplish even more than was asked of us?
Today as we thank God for all that God has done over and above our expectations, let us strive to exceed our normal standard of performance!
In Christ,
