Greetings

How’s the journey coming along?

A good friend of mine invited me to go deeper with yesterday’s text. Here’s the GNB version…

In the same way the Spirit also comes to help us, weak as we are. For we do not know how we ought to pray; the Spirit himself pleads with God for us in groans that words cannot express. And God, who sees into our hearts, knows what the thought of the Spirit is; because the Spirit pleads with God on behalf of his people and in accordance with his will. Romans 8:26-27 GNB

(I’ve added the prior verse, hoping that it helps to add clarity to the nougat.)

So, many a time we make our requests to God and we’re as passionate as Hannah (1 Samuel 1). The gift of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer allows for petition on our behalf. But, sometimes, it’s a matter of motive. Our motive.

When God places our motive alongside our petition then God makes the response according to our spiritual, physical, emotional and other needs.

Let’s allow this to sit with us for a bit.

When we are burdened and cannot find the wprds to pray; it is then that the Holy Spirit takes our heart’s desire to the Throne of Grace where God, knowing our motives and needs, responds accordingly.
