Nougat 31

Hello

In the wake of helicopter crashes, earthquakes and floods globally, one may be inclined to worry; especially if any of those disasters directly affected us. For some folks, those news headlines have not registered for they’ve been dealing with their own personal issues and griefs and just barely have the head above water. Whatever the state of our lives right now; I pray today’s Holy Nougat might offer some encouragement

“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Of course, time is relative. For the grieving, incarcerated, chronically ill, or unemployed whatever we have already undergone is ALREADY too long. For the ones searching for the pieces of themselves in the rubble of natural, emotional or physical disaster the troubles feel neither small or time bound. For the person who has overcome trauma to live again, the time may seem relative to the awareness of what they have overcome. And the one who spent forever relearning life’s basic tasks; the first successful act of independence may seem to melt the season of dependence.

Troubles, unfortunately, seem to be a very real element of the human life cycle. I’m told they make us stronger or equip us to help another. Sometimes I agree; oftentimes not. What I have discovered though, is that it I focus on life; the issues are sooooooooooooooooooo much more stressful and never ending. But when I focus on the One Who sees me through – Hallelujah! The issue might not disappear; but I can sense His hand reaching for me; just like He did for Peter. We might even remember to ask for God’s peace which overcome the confusion and desperation which may try to accompany us through the storm.
