“If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”” ‭‭Esther‬ ‭4:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

That adage about “do it afraid” musta had Esther’s name and picture beside it in the dictionary. Because any way the situation was turned; she had a lot – perhaps even her life – at stake.

Just think; a young Jewish girl finds favour with a womanizing king during the national beauty pageant and is thus selected queen. Not just beauty queen queen now; but also queen of the Persian empire. Given that her selection came as the result of the previous queen being banished; Esther was conscious that no one interrupted the king. And that most definitely included her.Yet, her uncle was now adding to her stress with his command that could also be seen as a threat. It was enough to make a grown person cry.

However, there was Mordecai’s last phrase: this might be her destiny. For that’s really what ‘perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this‘ boils down to. Of course, some might ask who was it who ‘made’ her queen; and of course, that wasn’t explicitly stated. The assurance of being selected or chosen may confirm that Esther was a woman of faith.

And that Faith is what I wish us to focus on now. For, if it is at all possible that we were made, then it is important that we find out the source of of our authority. . Having so done; we equip ourselves for the task – as Esther later did – and get to it. Not out of fear, but in fait that God who calls us is faithful.

May all we seek be found in Christ
