Nougat 2

Published on

Hi

If you can, please read the longer story surrounding today’s Holy Nougat. I hope it stirs a craving for more God moments in our lives.

“He knocked at the door in the gate, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to open it.” Acts of the Apostles 12:13 NLT

This belongs to a larger narrative which speaks to God’s awesomeness. And it is one of my favorite post-Pentecost disciple narratives. It reminds me that there’s more to do and be for the faith.

So Peter, the fiery disciple, lands in jail on the grounds of his faith. Even in the moment his faith is strong because he managed to fall asleep in between two soldiers – not prisoners, like I’d said in error. (They must have been nice and didn’t tug on the chain). But, while he’s asleep; God’s power is displayed – God effected a jail break for Peter! Despite the two ssoldiers on either side of him!

Unlike the Paul prison narrative, there’s no mention of anyone else being freed. Only Peter. So when Peter finally awakened to the reality that he was freed, he went to visit with some friends. And that is where we join them today. Suffice it to say what happened next shocked everyone including Peter.

What do we do when God chooses to bless us unexpectedly? How do we respond when God hears our prayer for others? Do we believe in God’s ability to perform miracles? How do we explain God’s provision to others who have not experienced God’s glory in such amazing ways?

May our days be filled with the glory of God’s blessings as we open the doors to new experiences.

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
