Hello there
Sometimes it takes a song to soothe the troubled soul – but not just ANY song. Ask King Saul. And sometimes what we need is assurance from the Word. Today’s Holy Nougat offers such –
“But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” Matthew 24:13 NLT
Endurance requires more than just physical strength. In fact, I would argue that it’s actually more about emotional strength than just the capacity to do or be.
Recently, there have been reality shows; team activities and sports are designed to test individuals’ physical/intellectual capacity. Usually, it is the team or person who is able to combine skill (physical or mental) with the will to persevere who wins. That’s not great news for many of us out here whose ‘capacity’ is not there yet.
But there’s hope.
For most persons who participate in those sports would tell us that it’s not something we wake up doing. It takes backbone! They begin at one level higher than their normal capacity and develop the skills to get to competitive levels. Often their diet and exercise routines change, usually with their goal in sight. And while doing so, they psyche themselves to withstand adversity or torment. Always focusing on the competition before them; and eventually focusing solely on winning.
The same must entail for us spiritually. When we committed to this journey with Christ, we were already a level above our norm! Through prayer, reading the Word, our routines shift as our spirits are strengthened and fed. We also find ourselves in little skirmishes which begin to prepare us for the greater battles. And through our interactions with older saints in the faith we may get our spirits in order.
My dear, I assure you, the battle SHALL come. And, having fortified ourselves in the Word and with prayer; we can prevail. For, two things are guaranteed – the outcome IS set; we ARE NOT alone! When Jesus faced temptations he was not alone. He faced the trials; but God’s Spirit was with Him and angels came and ministered to Him. Though we face trials, we can overcome because we know there’s an end (in sight) and we can get help if we choose.
My dear, hold strain if you’re going through right now. I pray you wisdom and strength. I pray God’s Spirit to fight with/for you and angels to minister to you. And; having endured, you will be saved.
God bless you
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
