Dear Readers
I trust you are well.
This morning I have been reflecting on a reference my Religious Education teacher in High School once noted. We were studying the prophets and the servant was sent on a mission with an instruction similar to today’s Holy Nougat
Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Proverbs 4:25 NLT
It was interesting to note now that rev zeroed in so stringently on that verse in the text. He explained that in those days it was a way of ensuring one hurried as looking up would result in several stops along the way.
I don’t remember whether he used the word ‘distractions’, but that’s what nostalgia recalls … an insistence that we avoid being sidetracked in our studies and on life’s pathways. Unfortunately, it remained imprinted on my memory; but not always in my actions.
Far often today, the enemy of success is Distraction. We’re focused, then a comment comes our way and we waste valuable time and energy on same; which either doesn’t concern us or should be addressed at a later time. Perhaps it’s procrastination or self-defense (more likely self-destruction) but the fact is; our time is usually better spent on the task at hand. Let our results speak for itself. Bypass the layers of fluff and address the real issue in due time. But recognize the side issues for what they are … detailing distractions. And if we have trouble discerning or sidestepping; may God help us.
Literally.
I pray that we will discern the best times to keep our eyes to the ground and to be aware of the side issues and respond accordingly.
God bless you
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
