You know siblings,

I don’t think that I’ve thought about fearing God the way David broke it down in Psalm 34. You’ll know that when we reflected on God providing for those who fear God, that wasn’t quite the definition I gave. So let’s look at the separate bits as a whole and see what David wants us to hear from the Spirit of God. Consider Today’s Holy Nougat.

Psalms 34:11-14 NIV

[11] Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

[12] Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days,

[13] keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies.

[14] Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

Pass It On

Siblings I am so gratified to realise that God desires us to pass this Holy fear to others. It suggests that God wants us to participate in sharing the love that God has for us. What an amazing love! David is saying that what we do to fear God reflects the ways God operates.

Self-Check

Can we see God’s attributes in the way David spoke, and do we reflect them to others? What’s left for us to do?

Application

As we consider our responses to life’s issues, do we try to ensure that others don’t have to walk a similar path? That’s our call – to mentor others. And while David directs his mentoring to youth, we may opt to mentor others.

How do we see God’s love for life, and God’s desire for us to live our lives to the fullest when we are in the midst of our trying circumstances? Like David, we ought to help others navigate the spaces – not necessarily as we have done, but rather – by God’s grace, through the fear of the Lord.

We also need to remember that God does not lie. That is an important fact that we must understand.

God

Does

Not

Lie

So if God doesn’t lie, we can trust that God, Who made us, can and will see us through. And when others are facing the worst, that’s part of the reality, rather, the truth, that we offer.

We also remember that Y’shua is The Truth, in Him is no guile. So when we allow Y’shua full control, or tongues will be less likely to speak guile. In the process, we offer to them our good God, in Whom is no evil. We pass on what we have experienced when we operate in God’s goodness. Let’s be intentional in sharing that with others whom we mentor, by God’s grace.

Point to Ponder

When God asks, ‘Who will go for us?’, while we’re facing trials, how will we respond?

May all we seek be found in Christ
