Nougat 30
Greetings all
I’m not sure what happened yesterday; but this is yesterday’s nougat (thanks Ealane Livingston Smith for pointing it out to me)
Do you believe God’s paying attention to your needs and issues? Consider today’s Holy Nougat
“Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll— are they not in your record?” Psalms 56:8 NIV
“But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.” Luke 1:13 NIV
We now realize that God truly is with us in our rough patches; as God is
– Recording our misery
– Listing our tears (and their causes)
– Answering; actually Hearing our prayers
The nougats confirm that God acts in accordance with God’s plan and purpose for our lives. Although it sometimes feels like a delay from our perspective. Could it be rather than God ignoring us, that we are not always aware of God’s presence? I wonder if we might be needing to be more aware of God’s presence with us in ALL circumstances, good and bad.
Perhaps instead of worrying about our somewhat impossible situations;we need to practice being in the presence of our ever-Present God. This is a principle used by a Catholic monk, Bro Lawrence; who determined to not only see God in the mundane and ordinary; but also made being in God’s presence his priority. This meant that Life didn’t just happen to him; rather he experienced Life through God’s lens.
Practicing God’s Presence asks that we invite God’s Spirit to be in control; confess that we often fail to seek God’s face; and that our actions, responses and words all become part of our ongoing prayer to God. Of course, if we’re this much focused on God, then when we’re frustrated we will not only share it with God, but also seek clarification on our response.
As we move towards 2022; may we seek more and more to be dwelling in God’s presence at ALL times; and watch to see whether our perspective of God’s presence with us shifts.
