I strongly doubt any of us was actually there, yet our unbelief, fears, sinfulness were all there. Moreover, He was already here while there, making the choice for all of us should we so desire. Consider today’s Holy Nougat
For God so loved the (entire) world (God’s own creation), that God offered up God’s only son, so ANY ONE of us who chooses to believe in God’s son is not condemned to eternal death; but receives the gift of life forever. John 3.16
For some of us, this may fee like Bible basics 101. And to some extent, it is. Because, Good Friday began in Genesis. Right there after the Fall. To move humanity from Genesis 3 to Revelation 22; there was need for Operation Redemption. And that’s where Jesus Christ became human to rescue each of us from ourselves.
We’ve each of us committed many sins since then; falling short of God’s expectations and plans for us. And rather than condemn us to eternal punishment, God offers an opportunity to be with God once again.
Forever
And Jesus Christ is our surety. For you, for me, for the petty thief, he liar, the murderer, for anyone who believes.
So no, I wasn’t there when they crucified Jesus. But I thank God for thinking of me and offering himself in my place.
