You ever stopped to think that one of the joys of the resurrection story is that Thomas was not excommunicated because of his unbelief? When we read today’s Holy Nougat, we may have to move past unbelief to accept the blessedness of God’s promise.
“Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?” Romans 8:32 NLT
The inherent challenge in this phrasing is rooted in the misconception that God operates exactly like us humans. And, thankfully, that is not the case! The aim of the text was not to paint God as an overzealous sweetheart or Santa Claus, Who indulges us at every turn.
Not likely to happen
Nevertheless, our God is ready and raring to hear from us; to meet us at the point of our needs. And sometimes, the way God sets it up is simply amazing!
Can you think of any such moment? I’m happy to hear the testimony from your perspective.
Of course, God’s response is sometimes disappointing. We were confident in the miracle/job (interview)/breakthrough being manifested in a particular way. But it did not. Here’s a question for us – if God does not answer our prayer as WE expected; does that mean God is less God than before?
Certainly not
For after the cross, there was the resurrection! Hallelujah! And that’s what we remember, the very God who brought Jesus from the grave is still the same; yesterday, today and always . Whether we believe or not.
And has so many gifts in store for each of us. (Right back to where we began) – spiritual gifts; physical blessings, material gifts and emotional blessings when we least expect.
Especially if we pray (not always)
Even when we doubt
