There are few things more refreshing than water on a hot day. It is even more invigorating when it’s washing off sweat and dirt. Can you see the water and feel it sluicing over your body – Hold that thought as you read today’s Holy Nougat
“And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 3:21 NLT
Now can you feel God’s Spirit sluicing over our consciences and spirits; cleansing us so we are worthy of being in God’s presence? Despite our many sins. Despite our desire to be otherwise.
But Jesus
Ironically, just as we keep bathing to rid the day’s dirt, so it is that we return to the Source time and again to rid ourselves of our sin.
Not to water. For the water is but a symbol of what takes place in the spiritual realm. It is not the Source of our salvation. Nope; that would be Jesus. The One Who died so we might experience a new life.
Forever!
So, if you can, remember your baptism, feel God’s forgiveness and blessings sluicing over you. If you cannot remember, change the image in your mind of water to God’s Spirit. Feel God’s presence. And if that’s not yet your reality, consider what it would require to make it so.
May God’s Grace and forgiveness be ours now and forever.
