Hello my dear

Belated welcome to June. Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™

and he noticed a fig tree beside the road. He went over to see if there were any figs, but there were only leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” And immediately the fig tree withered up. Matthew 21:19 NLT

As a child the import of this whole scenario was totally lost on me. And then I discovered that leaves on a fig tree indicate fruit is present.

In that case, to whom was this veiled parable intended? For it seems that the real issue is not about fruitless fig trees; rather, is about misleading messages which our actions portray.

Before we go pointing fingers at any group, whether in Jesus day or our own, let us lift the spotlight of God’s glorious expectations on our own lives. How often have we been guilty of seeming to be grace-filled, forgiveness-driven and/or transformation-centred; and instead proven to be holding grudges, envious, judgemental, discriminating, or even uncaring of another’s circumstance? For, inasmuch as we fail to share Christ’s love to a hopeless and dying world, we become like that mature fig tree – heavenly bound, but of no earthly good.

Lest we become withered and dried up like the deceptive fig tree, may our lives be fertile and fruitful, affording shade and Blessings for the glory of God in Jesus Christ.

Thank you for joining in this Divine feast.

God bless you

In Christ
