Hi

Ever thought of being a change agent? Consider today’s Holy Nougat

“The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” Proverbs 18:21 NLT

So many of us are familiar with the reality of ‘tongue lashings’. Unfortunately, many of us who delivered them were not necessarily aware of the long term effects, as we were focused on discipline or punishment for real and perceived sins. As an adult, I am painfully aware of the insecurities which such words nurtured and usually ONE soft answer fails to undo the damage of such lashings. Even if only delivered once.

I’ve been guilty of destroying a few emotions and egos in my time, and though the message might not be reaching the ones I hurt, I am sorry. Sincerely sorry.

Unfortunately, there are those who are intentional in their use of words as weapons of emotional devastation and also for ‘grooming’ an individual to yield to their will. For the record and for our growth’s sake – that is NOT what we are called to do or be. Our role as stewards of God’s creation does not include fine print about abuse or harm. Not physically, mentally, emotionally or verbally!

Nope. Not at all.

If death or life can be delivered through our tongues; might we be very intentional about being agents of life? Speaking truth to power; speaking truth in love; offering words of hope and healing, blessings and deliverance – that’s our new reality.

Hate often begets hate; but from our hearts to our lips may there be the wellspring of life and joy.

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
