Greetings
Blessed new week, end of month to you. How have you been? I pray this proves to be an amazing season of life for each of us.
Here’s today’s Holy Nougat™
For it is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the God of all our ancestors—who has brought glory to his servant Jesus by doing this. This is the same Jesus whom you handed over and rejected before Pilate, despite Pilate’s decision to release him. Acts of the Apostles 3:13 NLT
Jesus. Servant of God. Sounds almost heretic doesn’t it? Our default takes us to Son of God, not servant. What does it mean for us to think of Jesus Christ as servant? And what are the implications for us in ministry?
As servant; Jesus bore our sins/became our scapegoat, was bruised and declared Righteous One (Isaiah 53.11). So Peter’s reference was quite in order. Because he was establishing that in Jesus, Isaiah’s prophecy had been fulfilled.
With God’s word being fulfilled, we know that once again God’s word is good. (Incidentally, we’re told that God honours God’s integrity above God’s own name!) Jesus being the embodiment of God’s glory through servanthood creates the opportunity for us to access all the promises made to the children of Israel. That’s great news! And that’s what we share with others as ministers. Not only as pastors, but as ones called and sent by God.
So how shall we respond?
In Christ
