Hi, how are you?

Have you ever sought wisdom when confronted with possible danger or ambush? Did you realise that the Bible speaks to such?

Here’s today’s nougat

And I said, Should such a man as I flee? And who is there, that, being such as I, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in. Nehemiah 6:11

In the face of great danger Nehemiah was very clear about 2 things, viz:

  • His Purpose :- Nehemiah knew he was supposed to be restoring hope to the remnant Jews back in Jerusalem. This was facilitated through the rebuilding of the wall, as well as making representation to the king on his people’s behalf.
  • His Commander-in-Chief :- despite being cup-bearer to the king during his time in exile, Nehemiah answered first to God, and then to the king. His prayer life was legendary!

Ultimately, Nehemiah’s approach showed his wisdom. That is, Recognising when a situation was outside of his control. Responding immediately by working through the nuances of the options facing him. Recording the strategy used, so that others might be encouraged by his actions.

How do we measure up with Nehemiah when pressing situations come our way? Are we clear about those TWO things? What is our approach?

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
