Hello

How have you been? Has it rained recently? I learned an important lesson yesterday.

But first, here’s today’s nougat

But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high. Psalm 3.3

It started like most mornings but I was bone tired. I slept a little longer, remembered my appointment and dragged myself up. I looked at my fairly new wellingtons and thought, “I should wear these today.”, and promptly put my warm ankle boots on. I carefully layered up until I was boiling, and I had not yet put my lined jacket on. As we were ready to leave, I bypassed the long, lightweight raincoat for the warm jacket. I did not check the weather.

Sure enough, it was raining outside.

The only thing I had done right and obediently, was covering my head with a cap that was at odds with my outfit. Ironically, the worst of the rain was while I was in a taxi and after I got back home.

God is my shield even in the unlikely situations. I was prepared for the weather with the thoughts about rain boots (wellingtons) and warm clothes. I was directed to the rain coat which I did not wear. My head was covered … literally. And yet, despite my inattention to details, God shielded me from the rain.

I was later gently reminded, “If I could shield you from the rains, despite your missing all my messages, can’t I shield you from other storms in life?”

Thank you for lifting my head Lord.

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
