Nougat 29

Published on

Sometimes we read scripture and find ourselves asking ‘What if?’ Today’s Holy Nougat is one such –

“This is what the Lord God of Israel says: Until the Lord sends rain on the land, the jar of flour will never be empty and the jug will always contain oil.” 1 Kings‬ ‭17:14‬ ‭GW‬‬ (God’s Word)

What would you do? …

You are in the middle of the worst famine your country has experienced; your supplies have run out, it’s the last morsel you have remaining. No protein, just some flour, water and a spoon of oil.

As you gather sticks for kindling (firewood material long depleted) a total stranger INSISTS that he is fed First – but there is NO first – out of the half serving of flour you have remaining for you and your ONLY child.

He alluded to being a prophet; and assures you that what you have will NEVER run low before the famine ends – in fact, he says that it is God‘a promise to you.

How would you respond if you were that widow and had not yet read the ending of the miracle?

How do we respond when God asks us to do the impossible and impractical?

What is God demanding of us this very moment that’s not as easy to say ‘Yes Lord’ to?

I pray God’s peace and strength in obeying when it isn’t practical.

May all we seek be found in Christ
