Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“The sailors were awestruck by the Lord’s great power, and they offered him a sacrifice and vowed to serve him.” Jonah 1:16 NLT
Talk about God’s awesomeness! Eight sailors redeemed through the disobedience of a saint! Yesirreee! Jonah, in his bid to escape God’s plans, managed to be used mightily by God in a secondary assignment. This bears witness to the adage which says no experience is ever wasted!
Can you imagine the laughs up in heaven when God uses Jonah’s defiance to elicit God’s glory nevertheless? Have you considered Jonah’s chagrin had he realized that God saved the Ninevites AND the sailors! Has that ever happened to you? Where God redeemed a situation that was birthed out of your disobedience!
The men were already on God’s priority list to the extent that provision was made for Jonah’s disobedience. A solid reminder that we are also in God’s plans no matter how estranged we may feel from God. Now that’s worth hanging on to!
So if you’re Jonah, recognize that God’s plans for your life and ministry are way beyond what we can begin to imagine! And, if you’re a sailor, adrift and losing momentum; be of great cheer! There is still hope that God’s intervention will make your day.
