I also made sure that the supply of wood for the altar and the first portions of the harvest were brought at the proper times. Remember this in my favor, O my God. Nehemiah 13:31 NLT
For some of us, wood and first fruit organisation does not seem like an important task. Yet it was very important to Nehemiah. Others of us disdain some positions and roles at our spaces of worship. Or we gripe and complain about everyone’s lack of accomplishment with their assigned tasks, despite ignoring the cries for help in our contexts.
How do we feel about our efforts being ignored by others? More importantly, what would we do differently if we discovered that God actually assesses our work, whether it be stocking wood or collecting first fruit? I suspect many of us would not be very pleased with the test results.
What then is our “wood” and “first fruit” assignment? Have we completed same? What are the distractions and challenges which present stumbling blocks to our completion of the task assigned?
May God’s grace strengthen us to complete as needed.
