Closer than a brother my Jesus is to me

He’s my dearest friend ….

Hold up. Hold on. Hold it right there! Are we really qualified to say this. I know that Jesus intimated as much but … Does this truly apply? What do we mean when we sing these words.

Let’s chew on that as we nybble on today’s Holy Nougat™

And Jehovah said, Shall I hide from Abraham that which I do; Genesis 18:17 ASV

Now this is the kind of discourse which suggests that friendships are about to move to a deeper level. This was where the trust factor mattered. The poser of the question wanted to ascertain the trustworthiness of the one who would be given sensitive information.

Before rushing to the dessert … (what happened with Abraham) … Let’s consider.

Would God ever be likely to consider us for discussing sensitive information? Matters pertaining to God’s heart? What does our relationship with God look like? Does God ever have an opportunity to talk with us? One on one? Do we listen? What does God say? How do we respond?

When we pause for our personal time with God … during those other God moments of our hectic days; is there room to have a conversation about God’s thoughts, or is it one sided yet again?

Today Lord

Help me be still enough to hear you, live and direct. To not fall prey to distracting thoughts or circumstances. I would that you desire to entrust me with information about your plans today and always. Hear this my prayer I plead, in Jesus’s name. Amen

Can you really honeatly sing that song?
