Hi,
Grace and peace to you.
Here’s today’s nougat
Before you were placed in your mother’s womb I knew you. Before you were born, I anointed you, yes – I set you apart – to be a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:5
So, not only are we known inside out by God from before our births, but this text also indicates that our very future has been decided on.
This could take us in the predestination argument, OR we could consider the fact that God has hopes and dreams pinned on our lives from the moment of our conception.
Probably it’s like those naming ceremonies where the child’s name reflects the parents’ aspirations for the future. In some instances, they live up to the name, in others … well.
If we think along those lines, then there is ONE NAME which has been established for each of our futures. No, it’s not prophet to the nations. Rather it’s Christian; one who follows Christ.
I firmly believe that our core purpose is to follow Christ just as the computer programme flows from the algorithm set out for it by the programmer.
That makes our first response, “Here I am, send me please Lord.”
How’s that for size?
Today please Jesus, help us to seek Your face, Your will, Your purpose for our lives. May we celebrate you in all we do as we live for You like a well-crafted algorithm. Guard our thoughts as we take stock of our value in and to You we pray, dear Jesus. Amen
