Howdy do My Dear

An elder from a church up in the Jamaican hills would say ‘How is yuh?’ I would add to that, ‘an where is yuh?’ Although, in one sense, it doesn’t matter; because regardless of our location, God still finds us. See what Today’s Holy Nougat says

“Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy.” Luke‬ ‭19:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Like Matthew, Zacchaeus was a tax collector. And he was gifted at his job (read the rest of the pericope). Despite his fiscal acuity, Zacchaeus wanted something more. And what he really sought couldn’t be bought. To get the best opportunity to access what he sought, Zacchaeus went straight to the top. But it was a nature-al act; for his efforts got him perfect vantage point to see, not to get intimately connected with the Source of his restoration.

Despite being up in the trees, Jesus saw Zacchaeus. And, despite all the power, money, status within the empire; Zacchaeus found himself scrambling to the ground where Jesus awaited his presence.

The truth is – it doesn’t matter WHERE we find ourselves or WHO the world thinks we are, Jesus sees our hearts. And responds to the desperation and desires of our hearts. And no matter how exalted or elevated we are, we still come back (down) to earth to receive and serve Jesus. For as helpful as money and status are (and they have their merits); they have zero value in the presence of our holy God. It is not so much our physical location or vantage point that matters to God, as it is our spiritual location.

So , while Jesus passes our way once again I ask, ‘How is yuh an where is yuh?’ Hopefully wherever Jesus meets us.
