It’s Pentecost! Time to celebrate the move of God’s Spirit. Please receive today’s Holy Nougat

“Then John testified, “I saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and resting upon him.” ‭‭John‬ ‭1‬:‭32‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them.” ‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Like a dove, yet some years later, the visible sign of God’s Spirit was Fire. In the first instance, John was the sole witness to the move of God’s Spirit; but on that blessed Pentecost everyone in the vicinity saw and heard and were witnesses to the mighty move of God’s Spirit. John’s vision signaled the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry, it was a formal affirmation that Jesus was God’s beloved Son, the One anointed as Messiah. In the public vision at Pentecost, God’s Spirit was the fulfillment of Jesus’ prophetic promise and signaled the beginning of what would later be called the church.

That particular Pentecost could also be seen as the launch of our public ministry as beloved sons and daughters, as ones anointed to share the news of the Messiah. After John received the sign, he voiced to his disciples and to all in the vicinity that Jesus was the Lamb of God, the Savior Who’d be the substitute for our sins (see verse 32). Our task remains the same, for God’s Spirit bears witness to Jesus Christ, the Anointed One, our Messiah.

If our anointing does not propel us to be witnesses to Jesus, then we must revert to Source. If we have received Jesus as Savior, yet find ourselves undesirous of interaction with God’s Spirit, Who tells us what to do for and say about our Savior, it’s time to reorient ourselves with the ministry of God’s Spirit.

By God’s Spirit, we receive the power to act on Jesus’ authority. By God’s Spirit, we find fulfillment in our mission to fulfill God’s Great Commission. By God’s Spirit, the world will see and believe Who Jesus is. May we be inundated by the move of God’s Spirit.

May all we seek be found in Christ
