So, we’ve concluded our major reflections on depression. Hopefully it was impactful to you, our at least, afforded you the opportunity to uncover this often-silenced subject. What next, you ask. Well, there’s one final word … Consider Today’s Holy Nougat

Deuteronomy 31:8 CEVDCI

[8] The Lord will lead you into the land. He will always be with you and help you, so don’t ever be afraid of your enemies.

Depression is Real 9

We couldn’t exclude this final word. A reminder that when we cry out to YHWH, YHWH hears. For no matter how long the weeping of depression lasts, we are promised God’s joy, Y’shua, in the morning (see Psalm 30:5). That’s not just some nice words to keep us going. These are words to live by. They are also words to live for. Having the assurance that there is another side to the story – yours, mine, others who are in pain – gives us hope to continue … or it should.

Self-Check

How does the knowledge of Y’shua’s love help us avoid despair?

Deeper Dive

Depression can be a form of bondage. It prevents us from living life in abundance here on earth, and from experiencing the love of Jesus, Others and Self. [When phrased as Jesus, Others, and Yourself, we see the JOY Principle in effect. And it takes us into His presence where Joy abounds.] It is a though we are living under the enemy’s law, in the enemy’s land.

But

Y’shua offers us a different way. In Him, we are authorised to enter God’s Land of Promise. We don’t have to die first to get there … Y’shua often assured us that the Kingdom of Heaven, God’s Land of Promise, is at hand. It is in the here and now, not just in the afterlife. That’s why we pray, ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as in Heaven’. There’s the chance for us to live the resurrected life, free from depression today.

Knowing that God is with us …

Knowing that God is our Dwelling Place …

Knowing that God had defeated every enemy, including death and depression …

We need not worry. Fear, Debt, Doubt, Discomfort, Divorce, Desertion, Disaster, Trauma, Unemployment, and even Death are already defeated. They have no power over us when we live in God’s Land of Promise. So, let’s allow God’s supernatural peace to prevail in all circumstances. We rejoice, thanking God for having plans for us, for our future, a reason to hope (see Jeremiah 29:11).

Point to Ponder

As we (or others whom we know), pass through the Valley of Shadows (Psalm 23) on our way to the Land of Promise; let us not remain in the Valley. Let’s look instead, for God’s abundant provision of joy, which anoints, overflows and dispells the gloom of all that ails us.

May all we seek be found in Christ
