This is the day our God has given us, let us be joyful and filled with praise. Need more convincing; here’s today’s Holy Nougat
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.”
Ephesians 1:3 NLT
Every blessing that exists in the heavenlies; ALL because we acknowledge Jesus as our Lord. Thanks be to God! But what are we giving thanks for? Do we have a clue?
The blessings that are referenced here are not quite the same as spiritual gifts. The clues in the following verses however, suggest that the spiritual blessings refers to some of those gifts which we may have taken for granted:
– LOVE (God’s everlasting desire for each of us individually; just because God created us)
– HOLINESS (being set apart as heirs to God’s home)
– ADOPTION (not so much born heirs, but given the chance to accept the status which comes with being set apart)
– JOY (which God experiences by our inclusion in God’s eternal family)
– FREEDOM (from the burdens of sin which separates us from God)
– GRACE (to overlook our sins because of Jesus) [verses 4-7]
When put in perspective like this, we may find ourselves more inclined to join in praise to God!
May this morning resound with the fullness of hallelujahs for every good gift which we receive freely by God’s mercy.
