Nougat 28

Hi

Some of us feel guilty for taking a break from our workaholic routine. Guess what – today’s Holy Nougat suggests that Jesus took a break. Check it out

“Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime. He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food.” John 4:6, 8 NLT

He was tired; weary even, in the middle of the day. Alone and in enemy territory. He was not afraid. His next actions might have seemed irrational, but He was in His right mind.

Have you ever been there? Bone weary, probably not from a walk, but from the day’s routine, from early morning or the middle of the day? Needed even a two-minute respite from everyone and everything?

If yes, you are probably one of many. Whether you are in full time ministry or involved in a secular career (or studies), recognize that even Jesus caught a brief catnap on occasion m … like in a boat during a storm (see 4:38-39).

Moreover, Christ offers an open invitation to rest in Matthew 11:28-29, which comes with no requirement that we make an appointment. He simply said, if you find yourself weary or burdened by life situations or anything else – come. For in Christ is rest for anyone who so desires. At any time. Imagine that.

Just needing a quick one to get back on track? Follow Christ’s example, forget everything – no matter how urgent; take 5 winks or pause for prayer); then tackle what’s waiting. (The storm was right there while He slept and was there waiting on Him before He calmed it). Burdened, burnout, beaten or broken? Christ offers the perfect ‘catnap’ which restores, revives, and rejuvenates.

Take 5 on Christ – rest guaranteed.

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
