Hi

One of my favorite movies as a child was Mahogany with Billy Dee Williams and Diana Ross. I scarcely remember the storyline; but the theme song stuck with me – Do you know where you’re going to, do you get the things life is showing you, do you know? Do you get what you’re hoping for? when you look behind you there is no open door … it was a graduation theme song and all that. But, upon reflection, I’d argue that there is actually little hope embedded in the message of the song. That’s how many of us may feel when we’re cooped in with fears and social/physical distancing; it could be a bit depressing.

If so, I invite you to consider today’s Holy Nougat

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”

Hebrews 10:23 NIV

So, here are a few reminders

1) We gotta have Hope to truly live

2) Christ gives us Hope

3) Hope is to be SHARED with others (we profess it – to profess is to teach or say loudly to another)

4) Hope from Christ has a lifetime warranty – we CAN believe it

Having remembered, we note that this encouragement is intended for us ‘forgetters’. Yes indeed. It’s primarily a reminder of God’s grace in the ‘evil day’, when we have sinned, or need courage to approach God. Jesus grants us forgiveness and access.

In the rough patch, Hope says I know God will guide and deliver us!

Before our foes (including fear), Hope says, God’s even having a party so the enemy knows I’m not alone.

When illness comes, Hope says God has poured the oil of Joy upon me, it is well with my soul. For if my soul is well, my body need not worry.

And when our hearts are troubled, Hope says He’s coming back AFTER He’s done with all our mansions!

Jesus returned from the grave as proof that His Word is Living and true. Jesus ascended so we might have the Comforter to remind us that He is faithful Who has promised.

Let’s profess that Hope this week – first to ourselves; until we ’get it’ and then to others who need to get it too.

For if He’s coming back, then in the meantime we have a Living Hope; even through these times!

Confess the worries to God; profess our Hope in Christ to self and others.

Got it?

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
