Blessed Monday. Sometimes we wish the weekends were longer. But they are not. So we give thanks for them and plan to appreciate them and the people around us even more. Will we; do we?

Here’s today’s nougat

Forgive our sins as we forgive who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation. Luke 11.4

That was it. He hurt her once again. She decided to quit. Feelings don’t disappear quite as easily as we would wish; but his apparent rejection stung. Thus, each time the others seemed to relent, she rehearsed what he had done. It worked. Especially since he never apologized, nor seemed to notice that she quit.

So she tried to punish him. It backfired. And then he disappeared completely. Hate had become such a part of her life; she needed an outlet. It seeped into her other “normal” relationships and sent many people running … until another guy reminded her, “I am not him.” mortified she tried to explain. She knew but –

And she realised unforgiveness had consumed her, making even normal relationships challenging. HE had moved on; literally and figuratively. She remained stuck in the past like a Charles Dickens’ character; and was getting more and more bitter.

Letting go was hard, not impossible. By God’s grace she was transformed. Her entire demeanor changed – most of the times. The burden was gone. Until she chose to take it up again. Most times she left it alone.

Opting not to forgive had cost her. Out has the potential to cost us too. Are we ready to let go? Christ has already set us free, will we accept that gift?

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
