For many of us who receive these nougats and reflections, royalty of any kind is very far removed from our reality. We might be familiar with the British royals, primarily from the tabloids, and they no longer present perfect “happily ever after’ stories of the Queen and her family. And whether Europe or Africa; the remaining countries with royalty are not included in our personal or professional lives.
But what if, as Today’s Holy Nougat declares, we were to discover that We, as in you and me, are actually directly affiliated with Royalty?
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the One who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 TLV
We’re not just chosen; but Chosen as priests and priestesses to royalty. Now I’m not referring to the imposter who snuck his way into the Royal barracks earlier this month. No, I am wanting us to see ourselves as specially chosen by God to be in service to Jesus the King of Kings.
Now, as God’s Chosen, we are specifically favored for fulfilling that which God has established for us to do. Although we’re not already totally equipped, we recall that God offers on the job training, especially for royal priests. And, being members of the priesthood, we have a crowd of witnesses cheering us on.
It is also helpful to know that Jesus is not a typical Royal. Under His reign, Justice and Truth, Righteousness and Liberty are top priority. There’s provision for needs and every individual is valued. Our role therefore is more about living the Truth we experience and sharing with others who seek God’s reign in their lives. We are also called to speak up about that which goes against His principles for Justice. When others are in need, we are provided with the tools to help them.
Because His kingdom is not of this world, we must take Him on Faith that His promises are True and His reign will be eternal. And in the process, others will recognize that we’re actively involved with Royalty.
He wants us to give His kingdom priority in our hearts, above all else that occupy our minds.
