Nougat 27

Now that we’ve determined what God’s refuge is, today’s Holy Nougat invites us to think about God as strength.

“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Interestingly, the Strongs Concerdance suggests that this nougat should read that it’s God’s strength that is ever-present. If we were to read it in this way we can say God is our constant strength. With all that seeks to bombard us these days, it is comforting to know that we don’t have to rely on our own strength.

Strength is somewhat synonymous with might and power, moreover in English, it relates to the capacity to withstand force or pressure. We therefore understand God as having the capacity to withstand any kind of pressure we face. And even when the force of the enemy’s tactics come at us (like a flood), we know God’s capable of overcoming the force. (In Isaiah 59:19, we are assured that the ‘standard’ God raises up is able to withstand the floodgates of the enemy).

The nougat invites us to tap into God’s strength for all we face, recognizing that God has the capacity to withstand every single pressure or force that comes our way. How can we allow God to be our strength today?
