Blessings one and all
Recently, my sister and cousin were in New York for a fancy dinner. I thought about joining them until I realized I wasn’t appropriately dressed. And most of us HATE to be out of place in our dress for a fancy dinner. Today’s Holy Nougat invites us to consider a different and perhaps more critical dress essential to this journey of life.
“and above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness.” Colossians 3:14 ASV
Just as fancy dress/suit adds a layer of classical elegance to our perhaps unglamorous selves; so it is that love adds beauty to even the most ordinary unassuming life. In a world where depression, betrayal and suicide are de rigueur (ie commonplace); we truly need Love to counteract the negativity. And, the more love we share, the more beautiful/handsome we appear to others.
So, who do we love? Everyone
Ourselves. The Rich, poor, bold, brash, beautiful, silent, silenced, opposition, supportive, young, old, offensive, opinionated, murdering, lying, thieving, dirty, disrespectful disreputable, dangerous, daring, darling, loving, prideful, embarassing, lowly, untrustworthy, dedicated, sinner, saint, foe and friend. Yup. Just about everyone
Unlike regular clothing, we aren’t expected to take Love off. It’s auto renewing, despite wear and tear, when it’s designer is God.
May Love be our outerwear today, tomorrow and always!
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
