Here’s today’s Holy Nougat
This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. 1 John 4:10 NLT
Recently, I have been thinking about what it truly means to love another. In platonic friendships, one may tolerate offensive behaviour, knowing that the friend doesn’t remain in our orbit all/for the majority of the time. But close friends and family do.
And a minor irritation can become a major crisis if ignored whether deliberately or unintended. That is, until we find that we are the source of irritation. For the people who matter. For friends and family. To God’s Will and Purposes. And sometimes, remorse sets in.
Many times, a bit late. And for the most part, we are not very fond of broken relationships. In several instances, they’re beyond natural repair (thanks towords and deeds better left alone). But God.
Our God is a Salvaging Specialist. Not only for human relationships; but also with Our relationship. When things go wrong between us and God – as invariably they do – it is God Who initiates reconciliation through Jesus Christ. We receive forgiveness today, tomorrow and beyond because Christ CHOSE to forgive us centuries ago. Thus, when we finally decide to seek forgiveness, it’s already given. Our God
Now I find that relationships may need a different approach when I’ve been wronged. Although I’d like to hold the grudge (and I truly do); Christ’s love demands otherwise.
Not an easy response I tell you. For it also means holding back the desired comments if/when an apology comes my way. And letting go of the pain when it comes. That’s God
