Today’s Holy Nougat may challenge our expression of faith in fire.
“But she came and worshiped him, pleading again, “Lord, help me!”” Matthew 15:25 NLT
There she was, insulted and about to be ignored, and her response – worship. Admitting her submission to the One Who was the source of discouragement. Pressing on in the face of major disappointment. Telling Jesus emphatically that she was not leaving without her blessing. For even a crumb of a miracle would solve her problem.
We read the proclamation of the throng when Jesus rode triumphantly into the city; “Lord save us!”; but the two cries are not the same. Both were worshipful. Both recognized the sovereignty of Jesus. But hers was a desperate cry. Of one who’d already used her last resort. She had nothing left to lose.
Here we are. Centuries later. And we each face debilitating issues. For all intents and purposes; it may seem that Jesus is not interested in our struggles. Or perhaps we have convinced ourselves that the issue is too sore (embarrassing, painful, horrific, etc.) for Jesus’ attention. It may be some other persons’ issues; but we are moved to action.
Are we moved enough to cry out, ‘Hosanna! Lord save us!’ time and again until we hear from Jesus? And when the answer remains ‘no’; shall we dare together to give those shattered dreams right back to Jesus to put them and us together?
No is devastating. But we have to declare that it is not the end of our world. For then, our cry of hosannas is an invitation for God’s Spirit to restore us; body, mind and spirit.
Hosanna Lord heal us!
