Hi
Are you able to find the blessings of this season? Today’s Holy Nougat may offer one more.
“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ””
Matthew 4:4 NIV
For some of us, this nougat is hard to swallow at a time when we are concerned about (potential) food shortages and what the new normal will be. Yet as believers, it is critical that we absorb this truism for ourselves.
For whereas the universal time is prayer time (it’s ALWAYS time to pray), our prayer lives are informed by time in God’s Word. Reading, taking stock, getting to know God for ourselves, asking our own questions, listening for God’s advice, challenge or comfort as we immerse ourselves in the fullness of God’s Word. It is always a great time to be in God’s presence.
Being indoors may thus provide us with an opportunity to learn Jesus on a deeper level. To seek God’s kingdom and righteousness above all else. To dig deeper, to draw closer to the God of our salvation.
It doesn’t mean we ignore our reality. No, but because of our reality, we cling to Jesus. It does mean we ask God to help us discern our present situation in light of God’s Word, AND of God’s plans and desires for our lives. That despite the raging storms of dis-ease, disease, doubt and fear, we set our expectations in the One Who is able to keep us through the storm.
God’s Word helps us to discern whether what we are doing, thinking about or hearing really aligns with God. Feasting on God’s Word builds spiritual muscle and helps us figure out how to keep the enemy away. Remember that the enemy knows the Word also, so it may be about interpretation and application.
As we pray, let’s apply the Word of God practically to our situation, or if we are in doubt, start with praying the prayers recorded in the Bible.
This is a special time for us to draw closer to God my dears, let us be thankful amidst all else and choose to feed our lives with the Word of God.
In Christ’s love and grace . . .
