Hello

Have you ever had an assignment and when you return to the boss/teacher, you find that you have to report on the assignment? Never mind. But recognize that we also have to do the same in our spiritual lives. Please receive today’s Holy Nougat

“The words, which You gave Me, I have given to them. They received them and truly understood that I came from You, and they believed that You sent Me.” John 17:8 TLV

When what we preach, teach or expound on is rooted in Christ; it will take root somewhere. It may not seem to be the case – look at the the spiritual state of the disciples at that moment when Jesus prayed – but God will honor that which God has promised. Where two or three are gathered and focusing on God, God is present (see Matthew 18:20; read 19 also for more details)

Not only will the Word take root, but we can dare to expect that their A B C is covered – Accept, Believe & Confess Jesus as Sovereign to the glory of God (Romans 10:9-10). We can dare to expect even these things.

Let’s also note that in a sense, although Jesus WAS covering (interceding for) the disciples, this high priestly prayer was also a stewardship report. For even as He asked God to honor God’s-Jesus’ promise to keep the disciples; Jesus is clear in stating that He has truly completed His work. Jesus was giving account of what He had done.

In the cases where we are interceding for those with whom we shared the Word, we also are accountable for our actions. Did-do we preach Christ and Him crucified, taking care to keep the focus on Christ only? It is okay to remind God of our/their stewardship when we intercede for others. For, although God’s memory isn’t faulty, being intentionally accountable helps us remain focused – it makes a world of difference! And we also confirm that for those we mentor, there is follow up about their spiritual growth.

Finally –

Jesus was sent; we also are sent. Should we lack clarity about our mission – ask God. Especially the Who, the Where and the When of our sent-ness. (I believe that the Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons have the concept of sent-ness covered; not necessarily the way I would implement it but … as they are led). We ought to discern Where we are sent; Who we’ve been given special assignments for; and What our assignment is, especially if we desire to keep/be focused.

So we crave discernment for ourselves Lord regarding the task ahead: The Where, Who, What; so we can return them to your care. Guide us in the tasks You have set before us in such a time as this we pray, in Jesus name amen

In Christ’s love and grace . . .
