My dears

I trust you and your family are well. When considering giving, what do you give?

Consider today’s Holy Nougat™

They begged us again and again for the privilege of sharing in the gift for the believers in Jerusalem. Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have. 2 Corinthians 8:4, 12 NLT

A convoy of 4 cars were making their way cross country. Having successfully negotiated the motorway, the tire by the drivers seat began to wobble uncontrollably. It required immediate attention and repaire. At that hour, all businesses were closed. Few cars were driving by. They were practically stranded outside an inner-city community. Safety was 20 minutes away.

To remove the tire required the opening of one vehicle’s trunk which was filled with suitcases, a sure and certain target for thieves.

Several groups of passers-by sauntered past the convoy seeming non-threatening, but certainly offered no help.

Trained, armed and licenced members of the security forces slowed thrice, then sped past without offering any assistance.

But after a long while a certain man who was visiting in the inner-city nearby, stopped, appraised the nature of the problem and sent for a mechanic while remaining with the convoy (whose occupants were virtual strangers to that inner city community, especially at night) for over two hours to ensure their safety while the broken car part was sourced and replaced.

And the mechanic, with little assurance of payment for services beyond the word of the certain man toiled unceasingly, even to the extent of awakening other colleagues to source the replacement part.

And so it was that after almost 3 hours of accompaniment, having ensured that the convoy was safe, the certain man then saw the strangers off to safety before going his way.

Selah

Sometimes giving an eager, acceptable gift to God isn’t solely about financial services. But it is ALWAYS about giving from our abundant love for Christ.

In Christ
