Hello
Have you ever loved and lost? Invested time and effort in a relationship, only to discover that it was one-sided? If yes, then perhaps you can relate to today’s Holy Nougat™ …
‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’ ”
Matthew 15:8-9 NLT
“Grease-can”, “one-day Christian”, “fake”, “Holier than thou”, “Conservative”, “Non-christian”, “Extremist”, “Far right”, “Liberal” are just a few of the names offered by the judging public about those who ‘misinterpret’ God’s word. Ultimately, the names do not matter PROVIDED our relationship with God is one of the heart and not just of the head.
Intimacy with God IS a conscious decision, but it grows best in the tender soil of one who loves God passionately, seeking first to understand God’s heart. Intimacy comes from continued conversations, perhaps a few arguments/disagreements and a willingness to be as real with the One One who is vulnerble enough to be real with us.
Intimacy is born of shared experiences, when God gets us out of some scrapes, still waters and valley of Shadows …
Intimacy is enhanced by mutual surprises that reminds us the love isn’t one-sided. By late night chats and one on one conversations and insider jokes that reach down to the soul.
When we are intimate with God, there’s little to notice (or become) those who misinterpret or misrepresent the Word. Because the Word dwells within us, seeking to move us beyond lip service, to worship in Spirit and Truth.
Been labelled/being labelled … Turn to Jesus, the author and finisher of our Faith.
