Greetings
As promised, we spent some time yesterday chewing on this tasty Nougat. The responses varied from dedicating clothing upon purchase, to helping the poor and needy, to being open to the move of the Spirit in meeting needs around us, to offering tithes in the formal worship service. Let’s revisit this nougat once again.
Here is your Holy Nougatâ„¢ for today.
Honor Jehovah with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thine increase: Proverbs 3:9 ASV
Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labors] and with the firstfruits of all your income; [Deut. 26:2; Mal. 3:10; Luke 14:13, 14.] Proverbs 3:9 AMP
Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Proverbs 3:9 NLT
To honour someone is to give the highest accord and respect, to glorify and make weighty. So, in honoring or worshipping the Lord, Adonai; we seek to make weighty our respect for the Lord. And, the psalmist encourages the reader to worship by way of our wealth/substance/capital. And this is to be from our best.
So, I worship the Lord through giving my time – online and in person – (availing myself to others); my finances (even when my income is low); and in any other way as the Lord leads. Bearing in mind Romans 12.1-2, I am motivated to worship the Lord with my everything, and this worship results from the Lord honoring me and providing for me throughout my life.
As such, it is easier to worship through my giving – cash and kind – because I’m extremely conscious of the fact that ‘the earth is the Lord’s and all that it entails’; all that I have ultimately belongs to the Lord.
And that holds true for you also.
Let’s always value Adonai with our wealth, capital, substance and produce, in spirit and in truth.
In Christ.
