Nougat 26

Hello

One may be tempted to give up hope; but this battle against strongholds requires perseverance. God could have simply destroyed Jericho without the Hebrews being involved; but it was a lesson in Faith and endurance. Strongholds don’t land in our lives overnight; let’s press on. Here’s today’s Holy Nougat

“Then he gave orders to the people: “March around the town, and the armed men will lead the way in front of the Ark of the Lord.” … Some of the armed men marched in front of the priests with the horns and some behind the Ark, with the priests continually blowing the horns.”

Did you notice that the priests are flanked by armed soldiers? Oh yes there were! In every battle, no matter the size; it is important to have soldiers with us. And here we see the soldiers ALL around the priests, providing full coverage from every side. Three biblical examples are worth reciting here:

1. Gideon’s army was minuscule; but God enabled that tiny army to overcome the enemy. A reminder that the size of the stronghold does NOT matter; God’s Grace is sufficient (Judges 6:14; 7:2-6)
2. When Joshua received Moses’ mantle; he encountered the captain of the Lord’s hosts. In fear/consternation; Joshua asked whether the captain was friend or foe. The response; the Captain was neither. We cannot confuse the issues – God is just, and acts accordingly. (Joshua 5:13-14)
3. Israel’s sovereignty was threatened several times. In one instance, the king of Aram was disturbed by the high tech espionage Israel seemed to have. Upon discovery that the spy was Elisha; he sent his army to capture Elisha. As the army surrounded Elisha; his servant got jittery about their ignoble death. But God’s army had surrounded the Aramean army! Never underestimate the power of the God Who fights for us. (2 Kings 6:14-18)

I would further argue, albeit without tangible proof that in our current circumstances, the army that surrounds the priests represents the hosts of Heaven (ie God’s army). If my hypothesis holds true, then each of us PLUS our intercessor / prayer partner (the priests) PLUS God’s Word PLUS our Praise EQUALS potential for Breakthrough. For where Two or Three agree (in prayer) on an issue, we have actually invited God in to intervene. ie God sends the cavalry (Matthew 18:19-20 paraphrased)

So, knowing that we have God’s army with us in battle; can we bear up and walk around that stronghold this day? We can’t faint as yet; the battle is not quite over. Pray, Praise, Press … and let God Prevail!
