Nougat 26

There are days and there are days. And if we are not intentional, we can easily get lost in the rigors of what is before us, as is the case when things are not quite right. Consider, if you will, today’s Holy Nougat

“How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:17-18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What a blessed assurance to take us over into the weekend! Should we take it under consideration, we come very quickly to the following truths

• Regardless of how we feel about ourselves in a moment, or even what others think, Our Creator has each of us in mind and those thoughts are good. We don’t have to subject ourselves to unwholesome thoughts of inferiority. God already knows our reality and loves us.

• Plus, God not only has precious (ie nice) thoughts about us; but God has lots and lots and lots of thoughts about us. I’m imagining a scene in the movie ‘Bruce Almighty’ when Bruce has a face to face encounter with God and discovers the filing cabinet worth of information God has collected and collated about his life. It was priceless. For though hilarious to see the rather extensive filing drawer; we also come into the awareness that God’s willingness to invest that much time and energy in each of our lives is testament to God’s love for us Let’s choose to bask in that limitless love

• And, should we still entertain doubts about our value; let us remember that God gives us each new day. And no matter how great or horrible yesterday was, God is with us at the beginning and through to the end of this day. Perhaps it seemed horrible because we allowed ourselves to be sidetracked from experiencing God’s presence with us. And if so, now is a good time to change our mindset.

Equipped with the knowledge that we are precious because our Creator and Lover of our souls constantly thinks precious things about us; how do we respond? Will we choose to reflect on and bask in God’s love when things are not going perfectly? I suspect that that could be a game changer in rough moments. And will we choose to love God in turn?
