Good day.

We interrupt the regular broadcast to observe Today’s Holy Nougat™️

“Now it happened in those days, after Moses had grown up, that he went out to his brothers and saw their burdens. He noticed an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people.” Exodus‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭TLV‬‬

Moses, son of pharaoh’s daughter, has gone rogue and is now a fugitive. We have managed to get an interview with one Doowhsa; who seems to have known Moses the fugitive personally.

The details:

  • We know that Moses was about 40 years old when he went among the Hebrews. Help us to understand; why did he ‘suddenly’ go to Goshen – did he consciously decide to effect change that day?

Moreover, WHY had he gone there?

Was he secretly intervening in the welfare of those people long before that day? Although we know what transpired on that day, what was Moses’ original plan on leaving the palace?

  • Well – this was NOT Moses’ first foray into Israelite space as an adult. There are several unaccounted years in his history. Prior to this, as a child and likewise an adult, Moses had free passage to traverse the entire Egyptian lands. The difference is that this foray among the Hebrews was a regular practice that Moses indulged in whenever it felt safe to do so.

Very few people would suspect him of being empathetic while enjoying the benefits of his dual nationality.

  • From what you have said, we note that although benefiting from his Egyptian status, Moses identified with his Hebrew identity. Yet this was the system that oppressed his own.

Could Moses have envisaged being like the enslaved Hebrews, or becoming a fugitive?

  • One cannot definitively say what was on Moses’s mind; but we know that he was very aware of his dual nationality. I believe that Moses wrestled long and hard with discerning his call and how to effect it. And, though aware of his heritage, and seems to have understood his calling; it doesn’t necessarily follow that his spiritual practices at that time we’re that of his birth parents. I believe that he had not consulted the God YHWH Adonai on this one. It might have unfolded differently.
  • Interesting.. Your mention of one’s calling. Tell me Doowhsa; what should our readers be thinking of when pursuing their own call?
  • Everyone has a calling and are purposed for good works according to the will of Adonai. You. Me. Everyone

Our task is to discern it, and walk in it with the full assurance that Elohim, the God of Miriam and Leah; of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is with us. And equipped with that assurance, you can make bricks with mud and no straw, yet have a higher quality brick than before. It is the understanding of God’s call that pushed Abram from his family and birthed the mighty Hebrew clan.

Moses may not have fully understood his call; but someone will. Someone will.

As a people, the Hebrews have faced nearly 400 years of oppression. YHWH has not forgotten them. Moses will either return, or another like Moses will take his place.

  • Has the God of Miriam, Leah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob been calling you?

Do you know what you are called to be?

How will you respond?
