Hello siblings
Have you ever thought about the reality of God working for us? It’s actually on our behalf, but when nuanced in that way, we see that we’re not incidental. Let’s explore this some more as we consider Today’s Holy Nougat.
Romans 8:28 NIV
[28] And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
All means all
Even when used loosely, all usually refers to the entirety of something, no exclusions. The writer’s reference to all things therefore means that nothing escapes God’s care and provision. Since that ‘all things’ is directed toward us, we realize – even when we would think otherwise – that God is indeed at work for us.
Self-Check
Are we open to see how God is working things out when in the middle of our struggles?
Application
To a great extent, this Nougat invites us to check our faith level. We each have to answer to ourselves the (not so) hard question about the extent of our trust in God. For if God’s weaving all aspects of our life experiences so that the final tapestry is beautiful, then even when we can’t see what God is about, we ought to trust God.
If we were to base our confidence in God’s ability on past experience, will we only focus on one picture, or all the various pieces that combine in the tapestry of our life? We can look at the positive lessons we learned, or the beauty that manifested from the rot of one moment. It might mean shifting our lens a bit so we see a bigger picture, one where God’s presence is so visible we can’t not see it.
True, it is discomfitting to imagine that God permitted some horrors to become reality. Such situations can cause us to doubt God’s goodness and God’s capacity to transform those reprehensible acts. But our God Who redeemed the murderer, Cain; the God Who forgave Saul and kept him in power for more than a decade, despite having already crowned David king; the God Who took on human form, lived, died, raised Himself from Death, and ascended into Heaven is The God Who has all things under control. Every single bit of it – the good, the bad, the uncertain and the hopeful. Even the pieces we’ve been trying to withhold.
Point to Ponder
Do we trust God to manage all things on our behalf?

May all we seek be found in Christ
