Nougat 26
Do you have a painful truth that you’d rather keep from everyone? Be assured, there’s nothing that is too hard, shameful, gross, distressing, embarrassing or even too painful to share with Jesus. Consider today’s Holy Nougat
““I have no husband,” she replied. Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband.” John 4:17 NIV
And just like that, Jesus got to the heart of the matter. One might rightfully say that He led up to the question – which is to be expected; she’d never met Jesus before, AND they were from rivaling cities. Despite His being All-knowing; some protocols had to be observed, and Jesus *also knew* the kind of approach needed to engage the woman.
He also knows what works best for each of us. Especially now, when Jesus sits right there at God’s Right Hand. There, Jesus is privy to all we experience and do. In fact, that makes a good vantage point from which to intercede – nothing passes His perusal!
Jesus’ question to the woman might not be the same for us; but it will/can be equally as candid and discerning. It may be even harder for us to respond as candidly as the woman did; although we can see from Jesus’ response that He saw the truth behind the truth she shared with Him.
Unlike that woman, we know Jesus. Yes we do. We know that He knows our Truth; whether we’ve hidden it behind (or beneath) several other layers of truth and façades. We know that His desire is for our liberation from the lie that our truth is too … (you fill in the blank) to be exposed to Jesus. We know that His Truth will set us free to be real, too worship and to approach the Throne of Grace boldly.
So …
… are we ready to face our truth?
