Nougat 26

‭In Jamaica, there was a time when people avoided taking legal issues to court. This came from a superstition that said once one began going to court, one couldn’t stop. Whether that was true or not, it meant that some folks were not even willing to testify in court.

What if every single day of our lives demanded our testimony? How would we respond? Consider Today’s Holy Nougat

John 15:26-27 NIV‬

[26] “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.

[27] And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.

Anointed Witnesses

One main characteristic of God’s Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, is that God’s Spirit testifies of Jesus. And, as the Spirit of Truth, were guaranteed that the testimony is also true. (The joy is that we can corroborate the Spirit’s testimony against Scripture’s record. If it’s not aligned, it might be that we’re not seeing/hearing God’s Spirit). But Jesus didn’t stop there. He instructed the disciples to do likewise.

In an era where counterfeits abound, and the signs and wonders are exceptionally alluring, we must take care that spiritual manifestations point to Jesus. Our own, as well as those around us. If we revert to that first spiritual Pentecost, we will recall that after Peter waxed poetic about Joel’s prophecy, he brought the message back to Jesus.

Likewise, at Gate Beautiful (see Acts 3), when he and John met the crippled man, they manifested signs of God’s Spirit, and they testified of Jesus. It was in Jesus’s name that the man was told to walk, a gift more worthwhile than silver or gold. Their actions – but done in Jesus’s name. When Paul taught, it was always about Jesus. When he had the snake bite and didn’t die from the attack (Acts 28), he still testified of Jesus.

Bearing witness of Jesus ought to be normalised in our lives. With and without the signs. Like the disciples turned apostles, we recognize that our testimony may come at personal sacrifice. Each of us has to determine the cost of our testimony – how much we’re willing to do, how far we’re willing to go, mindful that Jesus went the ultimate limit. As we do, may the signs bear witness to God’s Spirit being present in our lives.
