Nougat 26

Yesterday, Lorna, one of my former members and a sistren of mine, called me, bursting forth with news of her breakthrough. She’d been trying to find me for days … literally. In her words, ‘… I call you when the going is rough. You can tell the world that God is real because my God came through one more time.’ The rest of her story is private, in my opinion, but you are welcome to thank God with me for Lorna’s breakthrough.

Suffice it to say, Lorna had been through a season that was beginning to feel like a lifetime. A fortnight ago, in desperation she cried out to God, and in less than a week, the unending season was transformed. Hallelujah! I found the testimony of deliverance aligned with Today’s Holy Nougat

2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT

[18] So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

What Do We See, Where Do We Turn

Lorna’s story is not unusual. Yet, it’s one we don’t often hear about. For,

often when our breakthrough comes, we fail to share our testimony. It may be that we suffered in silence for so long that we don’t feel we have a testimony. Or, we tried so many do-it-yourself solutions that we failed to see God’s hand in our breakthrough. In either or other instances, there is scope for us to share our good news with others.

Of course, our Nougat focuses on what happens before the breakthrough, not the testimony that comes after. Lorna’s testimony still helps us, as we note that she suffered for a season; then, when it reached crisis proportions, she cried out to God. When she firmly fixed her gaze on God, it seems things started moving. Her affliction was but for a moment.

Self-Check

– Have we been guilty of focusing in the wrong direction?

– What happened to the problem when we shifted our focus once again?

Application

Not only does crying out to God impact our situation, it also affects our outlook. By focusing on God, we cones that it is God Who has the power to transform our situation, not us. Additionally, we’re telling our soul to focus on the One Who never changes and for Whom nothing is surprising. Yielding to God’s will doesn’t always mean our circumstances will change in the future. But it says we’re placing our future in the hands of the One Who Knows the Future. We’re also indicating trust that God’s way is best for us.

Assignment

Even if all is well in our lives, what say we shift our focus (or keep our focus fixed) to *Y’shua, the Author and Finisher of our faith*. I look forward to the testimonies
